About me

Hi I’m Mike. I graduated high school from a small school in Northern Michigan where I initially developed an interest in journalism from my passion for information and discovery. I chose Ithaca College for its highly recommended Journalism department and school newspaper. I began studying journalism in 2022 and have since started working as a freelance writer for a local weekly newspaper, Tompkins Weekly, where I write weekly stories for the town of Newfield NY. I have enjoyed working on stories about homelessness, town municipalities, and general event coverage which have all provided me with a great journalistic experience, but also a fun avenue of connecting with a community. I hope to someday write for a publication or work as an independent journalist creating independent forms of media so I can write about whatever interests me and my audience.
